Terms of use
Last updated 13 September 2026
These terms cover SlabShield Vault at vault.slabshield.co.uk. Buying physical products from the SlabShield shop is a separate contract with its own terms. By creating a Vault you agree to what follows.
Who you are dealing with
SlabShield Vault is operated by SlabShield, the trading name of Luke Bailey, a sole trader. Address for correspondence: 41 St Edward Street, Leek, Staffordshire, ST13 5DN, United Kingdom.
You can reach us at support@slabshield.co.uk or on 07561 700006. We answer membership and account questions there.
Your account
You need an account to keep a collection. You must be 16 or over, give accurate details, and keep your password to yourself — anything done through your account is treated as done by you.
You choose whether your Vault is public or private. A public Vault means your username, display name, badges and the cards you have marked public can be seen by anyone, including people who are not signed in. Card values are shown on public Vaults, so treat that as information you are publishing.
You can delete your account at any time from your settings. Deleting it removes your collection, and that cannot be undone.
What you put in your Vault
Your cards, notes, images and messages stay yours. You give us permission to store and display them so the Vault can work — showing your collection to you, to visitors if your Vault is public, and to people you trade or message with.
Do not upload anything you do not have the right to, anything unlawful, or anything designed to mislead another collector about what a card is or what it is worth. We can remove content and close accounts that break this, and we will tell you why.
Card values are estimates, not valuations
The Vault shows market prices supplied by a third-party card data provider, converted to pounds and refreshed overnight. They are an indication of what a card has been selling for. They are not a valuation, not an offer to buy, and not advice about whether to buy, sell or insure anything.
Prices can be wrong, out of date, or missing entirely — particularly for a grade or printing that rarely trades. Your collection total is the sum of those estimates and carries the same caveat. Do not rely on it for insurance, tax or a sale without checking the figures yourself.
Scanning a card
When you scan a card, the photograph is sent to an external AI provider which reads it and suggests what the card is. The suggestion is a guess with a confidence attached — nothing is saved to your Vault until you confirm it, and you get the last word every time.
Scans are rationed: a set number each month on the free tier, more with Vault Pro. We may change those allowances, and we will say so on the membership page before a change takes effect.
Trades, messages and battles
Any trade you agree with another collector is between the two of you. We provide the place to find each other and talk. We are not a party to your deal, we do not hold your cards or your money, we do not verify that anyone is who they say they are, and we cannot get your card back if a trade goes wrong.
Be careful. Deal with people whose Vaults have history, and use a payment method with buyer protection if money changes hands.
Vault Pro
Vault Pro costs £4.99 a month or £49.90 a year. Payment is taken by Stripe, who handle the card details — we never see them. Your membership renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel.
Cancelling. Cancel any time from the billing page linked in your Vault settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal; your membership carries on until the end of the period you have already paid for, and then reverts to a free Vault. Your collection stays exactly where it is.
Refunds. If you change your mind within 14 days of your first payment, email us and we will refund you in full. This reflects your statutory right to cancel a distance contract, which we do not ask you to waive. After that window we do not refund part-used periods, though you are welcome to ask.
Price changes. If we change the price, existing members keep the price they signed up at until their next renewal, and we will tell you by email before it changes.
The 10% shop discount applies to orders at slabshield.co.uk while your membership is active, and cannot be combined with other offers unless we say so.
When things go wrong
We work to keep the Vault running but we do not promise it will always be available. Features can change, card data can be unavailable, and we sometimes have to take things offline to fix them.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Beyond that, and because the Vault is a record-keeping tool rather than a custodian of your cards, we are not liable for loss of profit, loss of opportunity, or losses arising from a trade with another collector. Where we are liable, our liability is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
If you are a consumer, you keep all your statutory rights, and these terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, with its courts having jurisdiction.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you — the price, what Pro includes, how cancelling works — we will email you before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Vault after that means you accept the new terms; if you would rather not, cancel and the refund position above applies.
